HDTH 102: Preservers of the Prophetic Legacy
Text: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Sunan Abū Dāwūd, Sunan al-Tirmidhī, Sunan al-Nasāʾī, Sunan Ibn Mājah, Muwaṭṭaʾ Imām Mālik, Musnad Aḥmad, and Muṣannaf ʿAbd al-Razzāq
Course Description: This course explores the monumental efforts of the preservers of the Prophetic legacy, covering the Ṣiḥāḥ Sittah, Muwaṭṭaʾ Imām Mālik, Musnad Aḥmad, Muṣannaf ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and others. Students will delve into the lives of the great Ḥadīth Imāms, their methodologies, and the Ḥadīth unique to each collection. Each week, we will focus on a different major Ḥadīth work and its author, deepening our understanding of how the Prophetic sayings were preserved and the philosophy behind each compilation. The course will highlight the distinctive features of each Ḥadīth book. Upon successful completion, an Ijāzah will be awarded to those who apply and meet the certain conditions.
